Description

The ZoneFirst SPRD-8 is an 8-inch round barometric static pressure regulating damper engineered to automatically manage and relieve excess static pressure in residential and light commercial HVAC zoning systems. When zone dampers close and system static pressure rises, the SPRD-8 responds passively — without motors or controls — by opening to bypass air and protect the blower, ductwork, and equipment from pressure-related stress.

How It Works

The SPRD-8 uses a barometric, counterweighted blade mechanism that opens proportionally in response to rising duct static pressure. As zones close off, pressure builds in the supply plenum. The damper blade lifts against its counterweight and diverts excess airflow — typically into the return duct or an unconditioned space — until pressure normalizes. No wiring, actuators, or control boards are required, making installation fast and straightforward.
