Description
Rheem-Ruud OEM Replacement Pressure Switch
The Rheem-Ruud 42-102056-05 is a factory-replacement pressure switch engineered for use in Rheem and Ruud gas furnaces. Designed to verify proper inducer draft before allowing ignition to proceed, this switch is a critical safety component that helps protect equipment and occupants from the hazards of incomplete combustion and flue gas backdrafting.
Key Features
- OEM Rheem-Ruud replacement part — ensures proper fit and function
- Open setpoint: -0.60 in. W.C.
- Close setpoint: -0.40 in. W.C.
- Monitors negative pressure created by the draft inducer blower
- Prevents furnace ignition if adequate draft is not established
- Direct drop-in replacement for compatible Rheem and Ruud furnace models
How It Works
The pressure switch senses the negative pressure (vacuum) generated by the inducer motor in the furnace’s venting system. When the inducer creates sufficient draft, the switch closes and signals the control board to proceed with the ignition sequence. If proper draft is not detected — due to a blocked flue, failed inducer, or cracked pressure switch hose — the switch remains open and locks out ignition, protecting the system.
Application
- Designed for Rheem and Ruud gas furnaces
- Replaces failed or out-of-spec OEM pressure switches
- Suitable for residential heating applications
Why Choose an OEM Replacement?
Using a genuine Rheem-Ruud OEM pressure switch guarantees compatibility with your specific furnace model, maintains warranty compliance, and ensures the safety interlock performs exactly as designed. Aftermarket substitutes may have incorrect setpoints or connector configurations that can lead to nuisance lockouts or unsafe operation.
