The Rheem-Ruud SP6379R is a 24″ thermocouple designed as a direct OEM replacement for compatible Rheem and Ruud gas heating appliances. Thermocouples are critical pilot safety devices that generate a small millivolt signal to hold the gas valve open when the pilot flame is proven. If the pilot flame is extinguished, the thermocouple cools, the signal drops, and the gas valve closes — preventing unsafe gas flow.
