Description
Trane THT2545 High Limit Switch Overview
The Trane THT2545 is an OEM high limit switch engineered to provide reliable overheat protection in Trane heating systems. Rated to open at 120°F with a 20°F differential, this switch monitors supply air or heat exchanger temperatures and interrupts the burner or heating circuit before unsafe conditions can develop — protecting both equipment and occupants.
Key Features
- OEM Trane replacement part — ensures precise fit and performance
- 120°F open setpoint with 20°F differential for accurate temperature control
- Automatically resets once temperature drops within safe operating range
- Designed to interrupt heating operation and prevent overheating damage
- Direct drop-in replacement for compatible Trane furnace and air handler applications
- Durable construction for long-term reliability in demanding HVAC environments
How High Limit Switches Work
A high limit switch is a critical safety device in any forced-air heating system. When the supply air temperature exceeds the switch’s setpoint — in this case 120°F — the switch opens and shuts down the burner or heating element. Once temperatures fall by the differential amount (20°F), the switch closes and normal operation resumes. This cycle protects the heat exchanger from warping or cracking and prevents fire hazards caused by restricted airflow or component failure.
Application
- Compatible with select Trane furnaces and air handling units
- Ideal for use in residential and light commercial HVAC systems
- Recommended for use as a direct OEM replacement during routine maintenance or service calls
