Description

The Goodman AMVT is a ducted, multi-position, variable-speed air handler available in 2 to 5-ton sizes, compatible with a wide range of matched single- and multi-stage outdoor equipment. At just 21″ deep, it can be installed horizontally or vertically, making it a good fit for attic installations and other tight spaces.

At the core is a variable-speed ECM blower motor that provides constant CFM across a wide range of static pressure conditions independent of the duct system, improving humidity and comfort control compared to fixed-speed equipment. An internal, factory-installed thermal expansion valve (TXV) meters refrigerant for both cooling and heat pump applications, and the unit offers built-in compatibility with multi-stage heat pump and cooling systems, paired with an all-aluminum evaporator coil built from aluminum tubing, fins, and end plates for reliable, long-term heat transfer.

This air handler features integrated communicating ComfortBridge™ technology, moving the communicating circuit and control board from the thermostat directly into the system for optimized energy efficiency and performance — with auto-configuration of airflow and tonnage in communicating mode. Commissioning and diagnostics run through the onboard Bluetooth connection using the CoolCloud™ phone and tablet app, which also stores historic system data and equipment information for easier troubleshooting; the unit remains compatible with a basic (non-communicating) thermostat as well as a smart communicating thermostat.

The rigid SmartFrame™ cabinet keeps air leakage low — under 2.0% at 1.0 in. H2O, and under 1.4% at 0.5 in. H2O, tested to ASHRAE Standard 193 — and the unit is optimized for R-32 refrigerant with a factory-installed sensor rated for the lifespan of the coil.
