Description

The BRK SM6W01 is a hardwired photoelectric smoke alarm with replaceable AA battery backup, powered by 120V AC. The photoelectric sensor offers a 10-year service life, and the unit features a solid-state piezo horn rated at 85 dB at 10 feet. The alarm has a plug-in connector and can be interconnected with up to 18 compatible alarms, 12 of which can be smoke alarms — when one sounds, all compatible alarms sound, working with most hardwired First Alert and BRK alarms. LED indicators simplify maintenance and replacement: a visual Power LED confirms the unit is receiving power, a latching feature identifies the initiating alarm after a condition has been addressed, and a Replace Device LED provides SoftCue replacement reminders to reduce disruptive alarm chirps as the unit approaches end of life. The alarm performs self-diagnostic tests and issues a malfunction warning (three chirps) if an issue is detected, and includes an end-of-life signal (five chirps) with temporary silencing available for up to two days before the signal resumes; after about two weeks, the signal cannot be silenced. Two tamper-resistant locking features secure the battery drawer and the alarm to the mounting bracket. The gasketless base allows for true alarm alignment over a wide rotation range, and a fully screened sensing chamber resists dust and small insects to help reduce unwanted alarms. The unit can also interconnect with the First Alert smart alarm (SC5) to enable app alerts and remote monitoring. The SM6W01 meets UL217, CSFM, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and ICC requirements, and is backed by a 10-year limited warranty.
