Description
The iO HVAC Controls FP18-MOTOR is a direct-coupled, non-spring return actuator designed for on/off and floating point control of dampers in HVAC systems. It mounts directly to damper shafts from 1/4″ up to 5/8″ in diameter using its standard universal clamp, with an accessory clamp available for shafts up to 3/4″. The actuator provides 90° of adjustable stroke with a visual position indicator, automatically stopping when it reaches the damper or actuator end position; gears can be manually disengaged via the release on the actuator cover. Inside, a sensorless brushless DC motor is controlled by an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), which manages rotation and includes digital rotation sensing (DRS) to help prevent damage during a stall condition, while also reducing power consumption in holding mode. The actuator does not require separate limit switches — it’s electronically protected against overload — and ships with an anti-rotation strap to prevent lateral movement. Actuator sizing should be confirmed against the damper manufacturer’s specifications prior to installation.
