Description
The ACI 106295 is a commercial-grade freeze protection thermostat (freeze stat) engineered to safeguard air handling units, coils, and ductwork from freeze damage. Featuring a 6-foot averaging capillary tube, the unit senses temperature across a wide area rather than a single point, providing reliable detection of dangerously low temperatures anywhere along the sensing element. When a freeze condition is detected, the manual reset (M/R) mechanism locks the unit out until a technician physically resets it on-site — preventing automatic restart into a potentially damaging condition. The single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switching configuration allows the stat to simultaneously open one circuit and close another, enabling direct integration with fan shutdown, valve actuation, or alarm systems.
Key Features
- 6-foot averaging capillary sensing element for broad area freeze detection
- Manual reset (M/R) lockout — requires on-site technician reset after trip
- Single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switching action for versatile control wiring
- Designed for use in air handling units, ductwork, and coil applications
- Helps prevent coil and equipment damage from freezing conditions
- Compact, rugged construction suitable for commercial HVAC installations
Typical Applications
- Air handling units (AHUs) — freeze protection on heating/cooling coils
- Duct-mounted freeze detection in commercial and industrial HVAC systems
- Fan shutdown control upon freeze condition detection
- Integration with building automation and alarm systems via SPDT contacts
Why Manual Reset?
Unlike automatic-reset freeze stats, the manual reset design of the ACI 106295 ensures that a qualified technician must inspect the system before it is returned to service. This adds a critical layer of protection against repeated freeze events that could cause coil or pipe damage.
