How Float & Thermostatic Traps Work
The F&T trap uses a float mechanism that rises and falls with condensate level, opening the discharge valve continuously as condensate accumulates. The separate thermostatic element responds to temperature differences between steam and sub-cooled condensate, ensuring air and non-condensable gases are vented at startup and during operation. This dual-action design eliminates air binding, reduces energy waste, and protects downstream equipment.
