Description
The Daikin 5MXT40AVJU9 is a 3.5-ton (40,000 BTU nominal), 5-zone outdoor heat pump condenser from Daikin’s Aurora Enhanced Capacity, cold-climate line, delivering 40,000 BTU cooling and heating capacity. It supports two to five independently-controlled indoor units from a single outdoor unit for whole-home zoned comfort — this is the standard-drain-pan version of the 5-zone Aurora platform, without the factory-installed drain pan heater found on the 5MXTH40AVJU9.
At the core is an inverter-driven “variable speed” swing compressor that continuously adjusts output to match demand, delivering up to 20.0 SEER2, 11.7 EER2, and 9.5 HSPF2 efficiency. The system runs on R-32 refrigerant, and Enhanced Capacity engineering delivers strong heating performance at low temperatures — heating operates across a range of -13°F to 60°F, and cooling from 14°F to 115°F.
The outdoor cabinet uses anti-corrosion treatment on the heat exchanger for long-term durability, and a Priority Room Setting lets one zone take precedence when all units run simultaneously — this setting is confirmed during initial system setup. The system is compatible with the Daikin Cloud Wi-Fi Adaptor for full remote comfort control from a phone or tablet, and each indoor unit operates independently, so different rooms can hold different setpoints at once.
Runs on 208/230V single-phase power. Requires two to five compatible Daikin indoor units (sold separately), a line set, and drain tubing for installation; an optional factory drain pan heater accessory (Model KEH063A4EA) is available for installations that want the added protection without stepping up to the MXTH model. Backed by a 12-year limited parts warranty with online registration for residential installations, or a 5-year limited parts warranty for commercial applications; installation by a qualified, licensed HVAC technician is required to maintain warranty eligibility.
