Description
The EWC Controls CPLS Coil Freeze Protection Lockout Switch is an essential safeguard for HVAC systems, designed to prevent coil freeze-up and protect equipment from costly damage. By monitoring suction line temperature and cutting out the system before dangerous freeze conditions occur, this switch helps maintain system reliability and extend equipment life.
How It Works
The CPLS mounts directly onto the suction line and continuously monitors refrigerant-side temperatures. When the suction line temperature drops to a dangerously low 37°F, the switch opens and locks out the system to prevent coil icing. Once temperatures recover to 47°F, the switch closes and allows normal operation to resume — providing a 10°F differential that prevents short-cycling.
Key Features
- Opens (lockout) at 37°F to prevent coil freeze damage
- Closes (reset) at 47°F for reliable system restart
- 10°F operating differential minimizes nuisance short-cycling
- Compatible with 3/4″ and 7/8″ suction lines for broad application flexibility
- Direct suction line mounting for accurate temperature sensing
- Compact, durable construction suited for residential and light commercial HVAC systems
Applications
- Split-system air conditioners and heat pumps
- Fan coil units
- Any refrigeration system requiring coil freeze protection
