Description
The EWC Controls URD-8 is a precision-engineered 8-inch round zone damper designed for residential and light commercial HVAC zoning systems. Featuring a fully integrated 24Vac floating actuator, this damper delivers reliable, quiet airflow control in forced-air duct systems where independent zone management is required.
Key Features
- 8-inch round duct damper for seamless integration into standard round ductwork
- 24Vac operating voltage — compatible with virtually all residential and commercial zone control panels
- 18 in/lb actuator torque for positive, consistent blade positioning even under duct static pressure
- Three-wire, power open/power closed floating actuator — eliminates spring-return dependency and provides positive control in both open and closed positions
- Floating control signal for proportional or two-position zone damper operation
- Compact, low-profile actuator design for easy installation in tight mechanical spaces
- Durable construction suitable for long-term, continuous-duty zoning applications
Power Open / Power Closed Operation
Unlike spring-return dampers, the URD-8 uses a power open/power closed actuator, meaning the actuator actively drives the blade to both the fully open and fully closed positions. This ensures positive shutoff and reliable reopening without relying on mechanical spring tension — ideal for systems where consistent zone isolation is critical.
Three-Wire Floating Actuator
The three-wire floating control configuration allows the zone control panel to command the damper open, closed, or to stop at any intermediate position. This flexibility makes the URD-8 compatible with a wide range of EWC and third-party zone control systems that output a floating (tri-state) signal.
