Description
The Goodman 11177118 is an OEM replacement pressure switch engineered to maintain safe and efficient furnace operation. With a -0.55″ pressure of fluid (pf) set point and a 1/4″ port connection, this Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) switch monitors the negative pressure generated by the draft inducer motor to verify proper venting before allowing ignition to proceed — a critical safety function in modern gas furnaces.
Key Features
- OEM Goodman replacement pressure switch for precise fit and reliable performance
- Set point: -0.55″ pf (inches of water column, negative pressure)
- 1/4″ port connection for standard hose tubing compatibility
- SPST (Single Pole Single Throw) switching configuration
- Monitors draft inducer operation to confirm adequate venting before ignition
- Helps prevent unsafe furnace operation due to blocked flue or failed inducer
- Direct OEM replacement ensures proper calibration and compatibility
How It Works
The pressure switch is connected via a rubber hose to the draft inducer housing. When the inducer motor creates sufficient negative pressure (reaching the -0.55″ pf threshold), the SPST switch closes, signaling the control board that venting conditions are safe and allowing the ignition sequence to continue. If the required pressure is not achieved — due to a blocked flue, failed inducer, or damaged hose — the switch remains open and locks out the furnace, protecting occupants from potential combustion hazards.
Application
- Designed for use in Goodman and compatible gas furnaces
- Replaces failed or out-of-calibration OEM pressure switches
- Suitable for residential forced-air heating systems
