Description
The Goodman CDVS96-U is a 96% AFUE single-stage gas furnace with a variable-speed ECM blower, available in 60,000 and 80,000 BTU/H heating inputs, built specifically for downflow installation — a good fit for closets, attics, or other spaces where air is supplied from above. It’s built as an Ultra-Low NOx model, eligible for installation in California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
At the core is a stainless-steel primary heat exchanger paired with a super-ferritic stainless-steel secondary heat exchanger for efficient heat transfer and long-term durability. A single-stage gas valve delivers full heating output on a call for heat, while the variable-speed ECM blower ramps gradually to match airflow demand rather than switching abruptly, delivering quieter, more consistent temperature control and improved air circulation.
The furnace offers flexible 2″ or 3″ venting with convenient top venting, and a sturdy 17.5″ or 21″ cabinet (depending on BTU input) simplifies installation in tight downflow spaces. LED diagnostics make troubleshooting straightforward, and durable cabinet construction supports long-term reliability.
