Description

The Goodman MBVB is a modular blower — a “blower-only” air handler with no built-in evaporator coil — available in 1, 1.33, and 1.66-ton airflow capacities, designed to be matched with a separately-purchased cased evaporator coil for upflow, downflow, or horizontal applications. The unit is compatible with R-32 refrigerant when paired with an added RDS kit.

At the core is a variable-speed ECM blower motor that provides constant CFM across a wide range of static pressure conditions independent of the duct system, delivering improved humidity and comfort control while using less energy than a fixed-speed motor. The unit offers built-in compatibility with multi-stage heat pump and cooling applications, and the blower section can also be used as an electric heater with field-installed heat strips.

This air handler features integrated communicating ComfortBridge™ technology, with commissioning and diagnostics running through the onboard Bluetooth connection using the CoolCloud™ phone and tablet app. Communicating mode includes advanced auto-configuration of airflow and tonnage, a CFM indicator, fault recall of the six most recent faults, and adjustable low-CFM settings for efficient fan-only operation.

Foil-faced insulation is glued in place and covers the entire blower case to reduce sound and cabinet condensation, and cabinet air leakage is rated below 2% at 1.0 in. H2O (below 1.4% at 0.5 in. H2O) when tested to ASHRAE Standard 193. Field-installed 3 kW to 20 kW electric heater kits are available separately.
