Description
The International Comfort Products 17402001000601 is an OEM replacement crankcase heater engineered to protect the compressor in compatible ICP HVAC systems. By maintaining the compressor crankcase at an elevated temperature, this heater prevents refrigerant from migrating into and mixing with the compressor oil during off-cycle periods — a leading cause of compressor damage and premature failure.
Why Crankcase Heaters Matter
During extended shutdown periods, refrigerant can migrate to the compressor sump and dissolve into the lubricating oil. On startup, this refrigerant-oil mixture can cause slugging, oil foaming, and bearing wear. A properly functioning crankcase heater eliminates this risk by keeping the oil warm and refrigerant-free, extending compressor life and maintaining system efficiency.
