Description
The Nordyne 632489R is an OEM replacement pressure switch engineered for precise draft and airflow proving in Nordyne-family heating equipment. With a factory-calibrated setpoint of -0.70″ water column (w.c.), this switch reliably monitors negative pressure conditions within the venting and inducer circuit, helping to ensure safe furnace operation and protecting heat exchangers from damage caused by improper draft.
Key Features
- Factory-calibrated setpoint: -0.70″ w.c. (negative pressure)
- 1/4″ barb port connection for secure, leak-free tubing attachment
- SPST (Single Pole, Single Throw) switching configuration
- Designed as a direct OEM replacement for compatible Nordyne furnaces
- Monitors inducer/draft blower operation to prove adequate venting before allowing ignition
- Helps prevent unsafe furnace operation due to blocked flue or failed inducer motor
How It Works
The pressure switch senses the negative pressure (vacuum) generated by the draft inducer blower. When the inducer establishes proper airflow and the pressure reaches the -0.70″ w.c. setpoint, the SPST switch closes, signaling the furnace control board to proceed with the ignition sequence. If adequate draft is not detected — due to a blocked flue, failed inducer, or restricted vent — the switch remains open, locking out ignition and protecting the system and occupants.
Application
- Compatible with select Nordyne-brand furnaces and air handlers
- Replaces failed or out-of-calibration OEM pressure switches
- Suitable for residential forced-air heating systems
