Description
The Tekmar 680 Snow Melting Control is designed to operate electric or hydronic systems to clear snow and ice from surfaces like driveways, walkways, business entrances, parking ramps, loading docks, hospital entrances, helipads, and car wash bays. It integrates with Building Automation Systems via BACnet or Modbus for alert notifications, remote monitoring, and adjustment capabilities. With support for up to two snow/ice sensors, the 680 expands detection coverage and provides redundancy in case of sensor failure. Upon detecting snow or ice, the control activates electric heating cables, a single hydronic condensing or non-condensing boiler, or a steam valve to supply heat to the snow melt system. Boiler return protection is ensured by managing a mixing valve or variable-speed injection mixing. Energy consumption monitoring is also possible when connected to an optional flow sensor.
Features:
- Automatic snow/ice detection, supports both in-slab and retrofit aerial sensors
- Energy monitoring, BACnet or Modbus communication
- Warm weather shut down, cold weather cut off
- Exercising
- Tandem snow/ice detection
- Idling
- Storm
- EconoMelt
