Description

The Trane DHY1467 is a DCB164S bi-flow filter drier designed for use in heat pump and reverse-cycle refrigeration systems where refrigerant flows in both directions depending on the operating mode. With a 1/2″ ODF connection, this drier integrates seamlessly into the liquid line to protect the system from moisture, acid, and particulate contamination — regardless of which direction the refrigerant is flowing.

Why Bi-Flow Design Matters

Unlike standard unidirectional filter driers, the bi-flow design allows refrigerant to pass through the desiccant core in either direction without restriction. This makes it the correct choice for heat pump applications where the refrigerant circuit reverses between heating and cooling modes. Installing a standard drier in a bi-flow application can result in restricted flow, reduced efficiency, or system damage.

Key Features
  • Bi-flow (bi-directional) design for heat pump and reverse-cycle systems
  • 1/2″ ODF sweat connections for straightforward installation
  • Desiccant core effectively removes moisture, acid, and solid contaminants
  • OEM Trane part — engineered to meet original equipment specifications
  • Protects compressors, TXVs, and other refrigeration components from contamination
  • Compatible with common refrigerants used in heat pump systems
Typical Applications
  • Residential and light commercial heat pump systems
  • Reverse-cycle air conditioning equipment
  • Trane and American Standard equipment requiring DCB164S-series driers
  • System changeouts and refrigerant retrofits requiring liquid-line drier replacement
Installation Notes

Always install the drier in the liquid line. Replace the filter drier any time the refrigerant circuit is opened for service, after a compressor burnout, or when moisture or acid contamination is suspected. Use proper brazing techniques and refrigerant recovery procedures per local codes and EPA regulations.
