Description
Trane SWT3525 200°F Rollout Limit Switch
The Trane SWT3525 is an OEM rollout limit switch engineered to protect furnaces from the hazards of flame rollout. When burner flames extend beyond the combustion chamber — due to a blocked heat exchanger, restricted airflow, or other fault conditions — the rollout switch detects the elevated temperature and interrupts the burner circuit, shutting down the heating system before damage or injury can occur.
How It Works
Mounted near the burner assembly, the SWT3525 continuously monitors ambient temperature at its sensing location. If temperatures reach the 200°F trip point, the switch opens the control circuit, cutting power to the gas valve and stopping combustion. This critical safety function helps prevent heat exchanger damage, carbon monoxide exposure, and potential fire hazards.
Key Features
- 200°F (93°C) trip temperature rating
- Designed as a direct OEM replacement for compatible Trane and American Standard furnaces
- Interrupts burner operation upon detection of flame rollout conditions
- Compact, durable construction for reliable long-term performance
- Easy installation in existing furnace rollout switch mounting locations
Application
- Residential and light commercial gas furnaces
- Compatible with select Trane and American Standard heating systems
- Replacement for worn, tripped, or failed rollout limit switches
Important Safety Note
A rollout switch that has tripped indicates an underlying system fault. Always diagnose and correct the root cause — such as a cracked heat exchanger, blocked flue, or restricted combustion air — before resetting or replacing the switch. Consult a qualified HVAC technician for proper diagnosis and installation.
