Description
The Nu-Calgon NuShield-R is a self-cleaning, no-maintenance needlepoint bipolar ionization generator designed to treat air in any ducted HVAC system up to 6 tons (2400 CFM). As air flows past the unit, positive and negative ions actively treat the supply air, helping reduce smoke, cooking and pet odors, VOCs, and other airborne particles throughout the living space, while helping keep the coil cleaner over time. NuShield-R meets UL 2998 zero ozone emission certification and is CARB certified. Designed for universal mounting, it installs easily using the included hardware or its integrated magnets, and features a patented multi-voltage input that self-adjusts across 24VAC to 240VAC without affecting output or performance — a real advantage for contractors stocking one unit across varied system voltages. The unit should be installed downstream of the last filter in the HVAC system, either at the fan inlet (shaft side) or on the supply/return duct after the filter. NuShield-R produces over 160 million ions/cc per polarity (320 million total ions/cc) at peak performance and includes a patented, programmable self-cleaning cycle (1, 3, 5, or 10-day intervals) that automatically cleans the emitter brushes — with no replacement parts needed for the life of the unit. An integral alarm contact (normally open, rated up to 250VAC/1A) allows for remote monitoring via a building automation system. The NuShield-R is fully ETL listed and backed by a three-year limited warranty, provided installation is performed by a licensed contractor.
