Description
The ACI 145358 FreezeStat is a professional-grade freeze protection thermostat engineered for commercial and industrial HVAC applications where coil and air handler freeze damage must be prevented. Featuring a 20-foot averaging capillary sensing element, this control monitors air or fluid temperatures across a wide area, ensuring accurate detection of dangerously low temperatures anywhere along the sensing tube — not just at a single point.
Key Features
- 20-foot capillary sensing element for broad-area temperature averaging
- Auto-reset (A/R) operation — automatically resets once safe temperatures are restored
- Dual 2-circuit switching for versatile control of multiple loads or sequences
- Designed for freeze protection in air handling units, duct systems, and coil applications
- Reliable low-temperature detection to protect equipment from freeze damage
- Compact, field-installable design suitable for commercial HVAC environments
How It Works
The 20-foot capillary tube is routed across the face of a cooling or heating coil, or through a duct section. If any 12-inch segment of the capillary senses a temperature at or below the setpoint, the control activates — shutting down fans, opening valves, or triggering alarms as wired. The auto-reset function restores normal operation automatically once temperatures recover, reducing the need for manual intervention.
Ideal Applications
- Air handling units (AHUs) with chilled water or DX coils
- Makeup air units in cold climates
- Duct-mounted freeze protection in commercial buildings
- Hydronic heating and cooling systems requiring low-limit protection
