The Amana-Goodman C6456506 pressure switch is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) component designed for reliable performance in Goodman and Amana heating systems. This switch plays a critical safety role by monitoring vacuum (negative pressure) produced by the inducer motor and ensuring that the furnace only ignites when proper airflow is established. The switch closes its electrical contact when the negative pressure reaches approximately 1.05″ W.C. When the inducer motor fails to generate sufficient draft—due to blocked venting, clogged tubing, or component failure—the C6456506 prevents ignition, thereby helping protect the furnace and building occupants from unsafe combustion conditions.
