Description

How It Works
The inverted bucket mechanism operates on the principle of steam buoyancy. When steam enters the trap, the inverted bucket rises and closes the discharge valve, retaining live steam in the system. As condensate accumulates, the bucket loses buoyancy, sinks, and opens the valve to discharge condensate — then resets automatically. A small vent hole in the top of the bucket continuously purges non-condensable gases such as air and CO₂, preventing air binding and maintaining efficient heat transfer throughout the system.
