Description

The Goodman GLZT7C is a 17.2 SEER2 two-stage split system heat pump available in 2, 3, 4, and 5-ton sizes, delivering up to 8.2 HSPF2 heating efficiency. Two-stage operation lets the system run at reduced capacity during mild conditions and step up to full output only when demand is highest, improving comfort consistency and lowering energy use compared to single-stage equipment.

At the core is a Two-Stage Copeland® UltraTech scroll compressor, backed by an efficient two-speed ECM condenser fan motor. The condenser coil uses copper tube/enhanced aluminum fin construction — 5mm fin spacing on 2.0 to 3.0-ton units and 7mm on 4.0 to 5.0-ton units — to maximize heat transfer, and the system runs on R-32 refrigerant. A time-delay defrost control manages ice buildup efficiently, reducing unnecessary defrost cycles and improving heating performance in winter.

This heat pump uses integrated communicating ComfortBridge™ technology, allowing simple two-wire low-voltage connection to the outdoor unit in communicating mode. Commissioning and diagnostics run through the indoor board’s Bluetooth connection using the CoolCloud™ phone and tablet app, backed by ComfortAlert™ built-in diagnostics with indicator lights and storage of six fault codes for fast troubleshooting.

The heavy-gauge galvanized steel cabinet includes a high-density foam compressor sound blanket for quieter operation, and cabinet air leakage is rated below 2.0% at 1.0 in. H2O when tested to ASHRAE Standard 193.
