Description
The Goodman GXV6SS is a 16.2 SEER2 inverter-driven split air conditioner available in 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, and 5-ton sizes, built in a compact side-discharge cabinet for properties with limited outdoor clearance. Across all sizes, the core technology is identical: a variable-speed swing compressor that continuously modulates capacity to match actual cooling load, paired with a digitally commutated fan motor and proprietary algorithmic control logic.
The system runs longer at reduced capacity on mild days and scales up only when conditions demand it, delivering tighter temperature control, better dehumidification, and lower sound levels than single or two-stage alternatives. The system runs on R-32 refrigerant, a lower global warming potential alternative to R-410A that is becoming the standard for new high-efficiency residential equipment.
The three-level quiet mode brings operation as low as 45 dBA, and a field-selectable boost mode increases compressor speed during unusually high load conditions without any wiring changes. In communicating mode, only two low-voltage wires to the outdoor unit are required — a practical advantage on installs where additional control wiring is difficult to run. The unit also supports standard thermostat wiring for installs that don’t need communicating control, and is compatible with Goodman connected thermostats and other Goodman communicating equipment.
The heavy-gauge galvanized steel cabinet uses a custom ivory white powder coat finish over a corrosion-resistant ZAM® unpainted steel bottom frame and legs, rated to 500-hour salt spray for coastal and humid environment durability. When properly anchored, all models meet 2023 Florida Building Code requirements for hurricane-type wind integrity. Anchor bracket kits available separately.
Service-friendly features are consistent across the line: sweat connection service valves with easy gauge port access, coil and ambient temperature sensors, a suction pressure transducer, a field-installed filter drier, and a seven-segment LED display with fault code storage for fast diagnostics. AHRI Certified, ETL Listed. Made in USA.
Designed, engineered, and assembled in the USA. Backed by Goodman’s parts warranty, extended to 10 years when registered online within 60 days of installation (registration requirements vary by state).
