Trade replacement for Bradford White, 1″ Insulation Tank (Natural Gas, 4″ W.C.)
The WT8840A1000 is a perfect gas valve replacement for older Honeywell/Resideo WV8840 gas valves used on Bradford White water heaters. A built-in temperature sensor sits in the tank’s immersion well, letting the control deliver accurate water temperature while a resettable cut-out prevents dangerous overheating. All power comes from the pilot’s thermopile, so no external wiring is required.
This gas valve is designed for standing pilot applications with an immersion well.
Service flexibility: Fits water heaters with 1 in. insulation cavity. Choose WT8840B models for AO Smith units with 2 in. insulation if needed.

Direct Swap‑In Design
This gas valve replaces several Bradford White part numbers (222‑47463‑01A / ‑01E, 415‑52907‑01) and older Honeywell WV8840 models. No piping or bracket changes.
Dial Range 55 – 155 °F (13 – 68 °C)
