Description
The Resideo WT8840A1000/U Water Heater Gas Control Valve is a trade replacement natural gas valve designed for Bradford White® and A.O. Smith® standing pilot water heaters with 1″ insulation thickness. This integrated gas control regulates burner operation while maintaining accurate water temperature and safety shutdown protection.
Powered by a thermopile generated from the standing pilot flame, the WT8840 operates without external electrical power. The built-in NTC temperature sensor and temperature cut-off protection continuously monitor water temperature to ensure safe and reliable heater performance.
Designed as a direct replacement for Honeywell WV8840 series valves, this control restores proper heating operation in residential gas water heaters experiencing temperature regulation or gas control failure.

I have not yet installed the control valve, but the service, through purchase and delivery as been exceptional. Shipment was rapid. A smooth purchase/payment, and the valve is ‘in hand’. It will be installed soon, and I do not anticipate any difficulty.

I haven’t attempted to install the part yet, but it’s got a big scratch on the front above the status light and almost looks like it’s refurbished or has been used before.

This was the correct aprt to fix my issue. A qucik Google search and I was able to change it myself and save $$$ on the install and the price of the part. Jackson Systems confirmed the part and shipped it qucikly. If I ever need something related again, I will shop with them first.
