The Honeywell/Resideo WT8840C1500 is a factory-style gas control built for Rheem water heaters that use a 2″ insulation cavity. It reads tank temperature via an immersion-well NTC sensor, is self-powered by the pilot’s thermopile (no external wiring), and ships with a 4″ W.C. outlet-pressure setting for natural gas.

Works perfectly. I have a 2016, 50 gal Rheem water heater Model: XG50T09HE40U0. The old gas controller, WV8840C1605, went bad displaying all different error codes. The WT8840C1500 is a direct replacement for the older WV8840C1605. All connections fit perfectly and it installed with no problem.
