Description
Overview
The Johnson Controls V46EK-2 is a commercial-grade, direct acting pressure actuated water regulating valve engineered for use with non-corrosive refrigerants. Built on the proven Style 46 platform, this valve automatically modulates condenser water flow in response to refrigerant head pressure, helping maintain optimal system efficiency and protecting compressors from high-pressure conditions.
Key Features
- 3/4″ union sweat connections for easy field installation and serviceability
- Opening point pressure range of 70 to 260 PSI for broad system compatibility
- Standard flow, commercial type design suited for a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration applications
- Direct acting operation — no external power source required; responds directly to refrigerant pressure
- Cast brass body construction for durability and long service life in demanding commercial environments
- 48″ capillary tube with 1/4″ flare nut for flexible sensing element routing
- Compatible with non-corrosive refrigerants
- Style 46 series design
How It Works
The V46EK-2 senses refrigerant head pressure through its 48″ capillary and 1/4″ flare nut connection. As head pressure rises above the set opening point, the valve opens to increase condenser water flow, dissipating heat and reducing pressure. When pressure drops, the valve modulates closed, conserving water and maintaining system balance — all without electrical controls.
