The QEL Q5-CH4-100L-0-A helps you catch methane and natural gas leaks early and respond automatically. It continuously measures combustible gas from 0–100% of the lower explosive limit (LEL) and turns those readings into simple signals your fans, alarms, and control systems can act on.
A backlit LCD shows real-time gas levels so you can see what’s happening at the sensor, while status LEDs and an internal buzzer make local alarms hard to miss. Three onboard relays can directly start exhaust fans, shut down equipment, or trigger horns and strobes at your chosen setpoints.
Built around a catalytic bead sensor inside a NEMA 4X enclosure, the Q5-CH4 is made for harsh areas like CNG vehicle bays, boiler rooms, and mechanical spaces. Standard 24 VAC/VDC power, 4–20 mA and voltage outputs, plus RS-485 Modbus/QEL communications make it easy to integrate with existing BAS, PLCs, or QEL controllers. Field-replaceable sensor modules help you maintain performance over the life of the facility without replacing the whole transmitter.

Built-in Control with Three Relays

A backlit LCD and multiple status LEDs show gas level, relay state, and RS-485 communication at a glance, while the integral buzzer provides a clear audible warning if there’s a problem.

Provides a 4–20 mA output plus standard voltage outputs (1–5 V or 2–10 V) along with RS-485 (Modbus + QEL protocol), so it can tie into gas controllers, BAS front ends, PLCs, or drives without special gateways.

A sealed NEMA 4X wall-mount enclosure protects the electronics from dust, water spray, and corrosion, making the device suitable for garages, mechanical rooms, and other tough environments.

Rated for up to about 7,500 sq ft per device (application-dependent), helping you cover larger rooms and bays efficiently with fewer transmitters.
Long Lasting Sensor Platform
Uses a catalytic bead sensing element with a typical 2–3 year life, and factory-calibrated replacement modules are available so you can refresh the sensor and keep the same transmitter in place.
