The Universal Security Instruments AMIC1510SB is a hardwired 3-in-1 smoke, fire, and carbon monoxide alarm built for whole-house code-compliant installs where interconnected alarm systems are required. Sensing Plus multi-criteria technology combines photoelectric and ionization detection to catch both fast-flaming and slow-smoldering fires, while the electrochemical sensor covers carbon monoxide — one unit handling three separate threats instead of three separate devices.

Power comes from the home’s hardwired circuit, backed by a 10-year lithium-free alkaline battery backup that keeps the unit operating through outages without the maintenance burden of standard 9V backups. The backup battery is embedded, not user-replaceable, eliminating low-battery chirps for the full rated life of the unit. Interconnect capability means this alarm will sound — and alert occupants — even if the fire or CO event originates at a different unit elsewhere in the system.

Built-in microprocessor intelligence reduces nuisance alarms from cooking or steam, a common complaint that leads homeowners to disable detectors altogether. Quick Find functionality helps identify which interconnected unit triggered first, speeding up response during an actual event. The unit includes a test/silence button, power and alarm LEDs, and an 85 dB alarm. End-of-life alerts signal when replacement is due.
