Description
The Caleffi 551007A Discal Air Separator is a high-performance inline air elimination device engineered for closed-loop hydronic heating and cooling systems. Featuring a 1-1/4″ NPT connection, this compact separator uses Caleffi’s proven disc-stack technology to capture and remove both free and dissolved air from circulating system water — protecting pumps, boilers, and heat emitters from the damaging effects of air entrainment.
How It Works
The Discal’s internal disc stack creates a low-velocity zone within the separator body. As system water passes through, air bubbles — even micro-bubbles — are drawn to the disc surfaces, coalesce into larger bubbles, and rise to the top of the unit where they are automatically vented through the integrated automatic air vent. This continuous, passive process keeps the system air-free without requiring manual intervention.
