The Daikin 4MXT36AVJU9 is a 3-ton (36,000 BTU nominal), 4-zone outdoor heat pump condenser from Daikin’s Aurora Enhanced Capacity, cold-climate line, delivering approximately 34,400 BTU cooling and 33,200 BTU heating capacity. It supports two to four independently-controlled indoor units from a single outdoor unit, with a combined connected capacity of up to 48,000 BTU — this is the standard-drain-pan version of the 4-zone Aurora platform, without the factory-installed drain pan heater found on the 4MXTH36AVJU9.
At the core is a high-efficiency, inverter-driven swing compressor that continuously adjusts output to match demand, delivering up to 20.0 SEER2, 12.0 EER2, and 9.5 HSPF2 efficiency. The system runs on R-32 refrigerant, and Enhanced Capacity engineering delivers 114% rated heating capacity at 5°F along with 100% cooling capacity at 104°F — heating operates across a range of -13°F to 60°F, and cooling from 14°F to 115°F.
The outdoor cabinet uses anti-corrosion treatment on the heat exchanger for long-term durability, with a specialized drain pan design engineered for improved cold-climate drainage, and the unit is pre-charged for up to 131.6 feet of piping. Additional features include Priority Room Setting, automatic defrosting, Quick Warming function, Night Quiet Mode, Cool/Heat mode lock, and self-diagnosis with LED indicator lights.
Runs on 208/230V single-phase power. Requires two to four compatible Daikin multi-zone indoor units (sold separately), a line set, and drain tubing for installation; an optional factory drain pan heater accessory (Model KEH063A4EA) is available for installations that want the added protection without stepping up to the MXTH model.
