Description
The Johnson Controls V46DA-7 is a commercial-grade, pressure-actuated water regulating valve engineered for reliable condenser water flow control in low-flow HVAC and refrigeration applications. Designed with an open-on-rise pressure response, this valve automatically modulates water flow in direct proportion to system refrigerant head pressure — protecting compressors, improving efficiency, and reducing water waste.
Key Features
- Pressure-actuated, self-operating design requires no external power source
- Open-on-rise action: valve opens as refrigerant head pressure increases, maintaining optimal condenser water flow
- 3/8″ NPT connection for straightforward installation in commercial low-flow piping systems
- 30″ capillary tube provides flexible positioning between the sensing point and valve body
- Optimized for commercial low-flow applications, minimizing water consumption while protecting system components
- Durable construction built to withstand the demands of continuous commercial HVAC and refrigeration duty
How It Works
The V46DA-7 senses refrigerant head pressure through its capillary tube and bellows assembly. As head pressure rises — indicating increased heat load or reduced water flow — the valve opens to admit more condenser water, lowering pressure and protecting the compressor. When head pressure drops, the valve modulates closed, conserving water and maintaining system balance.
Ideal Applications
- Commercial refrigeration condensers
- Water-cooled air conditioning systems
- Low-flow condenser water circuits
- Chiller and packaged cooling equipment
